“The most valuable lesson I learned through my experiences in Flyer Enterprises is how much one student can accomplish through sheer motivation and ambition. I am continuously impressed with the drive I see in my fellow employees and managers, especially when I know that on top of all of the work these students do for a small business they are also full-time students. To me, Flyer Enterprises represents everything one student can do if they believe enough in their own potential.”

“During my time with Flyer Enterprises we put a major emphasis on executing an overall strategy via frequent tactical actions and measuring those using specific metrics. This was a tough task for us and was difficult to implement in a short time as an FE executive. However, this is something I've used frequently in my current position. GE Appliances is trying to reduce the overall effort required to keep our supply chain, marketing and finance computer systems up and running. A major effort I have been able to pick up is creating standardized processes and analysis to reduce our RTS effort, and establishing a measurement system that adds transparency to our business. At the end of the day, the difference in execution is who can translate the strategy and vision into an actionable plan that can be measured - and that is an example of hands-on experience learned at Flyer Enterprises.”

“Flyer Enterprises allows students to apply classroom lessons to on-the-job work. In my management class we read several articles about creating effective employee incentive plans. We then did a short case study on how to effectively create and implement a plan in a real-life situation. I took that knowledge and was able to devise a plan for our employees at Flyer Spirit. The plan will hopefully motivate employees to excel at what they do and be rewarded for their extra effort. The incentive plan will go into effect the summer of 2009 and we expect to see excellent results with customer satisfaction and employee production.”

“I’ve learn an unbelievable amount of information pertaining to the operations of a business, however my most valuable lesson I learned has been the proper way to act as in a business setting, which I could have only gained through experience. Previous to working at Flyer Enterprises, I thought I knew how corporations worked and operated, and I have never been so wrong. This invaluable experience has allowed me to get ahead of the learning curve for when I enter the workforce.”
