 Flyer Consulting

Mission and Vision

Mission: Flyer Consulting provides affordable and specialized business development strategies for the voluntary sector, while embracing the University of Dayton's mission to learn, lead, and serve through collaboration with the School of Business Administration, Flyer Enterprises, and associated business professionals.

Vision: We aspire to be a self-sustaining service for members of the Dayton community.

History
In October 2008, Dr. Matthew Shank, Dean, requested that a team of University of Dayton business students examine the possibility of creating a non-profit organization within the School of Business Administration.  The team of students interviewed University of Dayton campus leaders and key members of the Dayton community to collect their ideas and brainstorm opportunities.  Some of these ideas included thrift stores, after-school programs for local children, a canoe rental shop, a soup kitchen, and many more.  The students executed preliminary research and narrowed the options.  An in-depth analysis and formation of a business plan was completed for the most viable ideas.  As a result of the research, the team decided to pursue a non-profit consulting organization named Flyer Consulting.  This organization would help local non-profits in the Dayton area improve their business operations by providing marketing, financial, accounting, IT databasing, web design, and other services.  Flyer Consulting is a way for UD students to gain experiential learning while giving back to the community.  Beyond providing basic business consulting, Flyer Consulting hopes to blur the lines between UD & the Dayton community and business & services.

Flyer Enterprises / Flyer Consulting Relationship
Flyer Consulting opened operations in August 2009 in association with Flyer Enterprises.  Flyer Consulting is a University of Dayton student-run organization that provides consulting services for non-profits in the Dayton area.  Flyer Enterprises, the student-run corporation at the University of Dayton that operates eight divisions, has adopted Flyer Consulting as its philanthropy.
Flyer Consulting is primarily funded by the School of Business Administration at the University of Dayton.  Flyer Enterprises will not directly be providing advisement to non-profit organizations.  Flyer Enterprises executives volunteer their time, resources, and expertise to assist Flyer Consulting in areas such as web site creation and human resources hiring processes.
Flyer Consulting has a separate Board of Advisors, made up of university professors and business professionals.  Flyer Consulting's advisory board provides the organization the most guidance for their strategic plan and current projects.  The president of Flyer Consulting will speak at the quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
We hope that the partnership between Flyer Enterprises and Flyer Consulting will prove to be very successful for many years to come.
